Vicky Linnane MA MIACAT is a registered Art Therapist with IACAT - Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists since 2015. Vicky recently joined IACAT council in 2020, to further assist in the promotion of the creative arts therapies in Ireland.

In her work she uses the creative process as a way of making some outer sense of the inner self.

Vicky currently provides Art Therapy sessions online via Zoom and in the room individual session in Soearth Projects, Kill. Working in primary schools, secondary schools, nursing homes and within the HSE and St. Patrick’s mental health services. Vicky loves to work in a group setting and in the outdoors.

Vicky began her studies in DBS majoring in Psychoanalysis, Philosophy and Media Studies. Following this she studied in NUI Maynooth a Postgraduate Certificate in Arts in Healthcare Settings, the first accredited course in Arts and Health in Ireland. The role of the arts in healthcare began her vocation and she obtained her Masters in Art Therapy from CIT/Crawford College of Art and Design in 2015.

Vicky facilitates courageous journeys with individuals and groups into our darkest nooks and crannies only to shine light on our vulnerabilities and imperfections. Helping those of all ages to recognise and celebrate their unique story and accept their authentic self.

Art therapy is a less threatening approach for those experiencing emotional disturbances or trauma.

Vicky maintains a client led approach and holds a non-judgmental space for all her clients. Vicky’s experience ranges from providing services to adults within substance misuse recovery centres, in mental health hospitals and primary schools. Vicky also has experience working with children, promoting empathy and building resilience against bullying behaviours. In her private practice Vicky provides services to those living with emotional and behavioural disorders, as well as those diagnosed with ASD and sensory impairments. 

Other areas of Vicky’s experience include autistic spectrum disorders, sensory impairments, as well as emotional and behavioural disorders.

Creative expression within a therapeutic relationship can have a powerful impact on maintaining good mental health, and this is something that Vicky has dedicated her working life to.
